Thing 2- Face of Your Classroom
Thing 2 covered a wide variety of web resources used to create an online presence for my classroom. I was unaware of the vast number of resources that can be used by teachers to run their classroom online. It discussed creating websites, blogs, and using Learning Management Systems to create an online presence for my classroom. I was able to create my own online presence in several ways that I can use as a teacher to communicate with students, parents, and any others interested in the future.
I think communication is so vital for a healthy and efficient classroom environment and education for a child. As the world is becoming more proficient in technology, it will be important to keep up with what works for my students and families. Having an online presence or website will be a great resource for students, parents, and any others as it will provide useful information. Currently, I have a lot of different information and resources on my website. I have an "About Me/Welcome" page, I have reading resources, book reviews, lesson plans and activities, my educational philosophy, a blog, a classroom management plan, and much more. As I begin to teach, I plan to expand my website and include places where I would keep classroom information and post homework, assignments, resources, and any other information about my classroom.
The home page to my website can be found here: http://libbeyjones.weebly.com/
Here are some pictures and descriptions about my website and the resources I have included on it so far, as well as information about Moodle and Blackboard. These are Learning management systems that I was already familiar with and was able to learn more about it through this module. They are very useful tools for teachers to create and post online content in a collected environment.
