Thing 20- Blended or Flipped Classroom
In this technology module, I learned about blending instruction and flipping a classroom. I have experienced a flip classroom before and have learned a lot about them in my education courses and I think it's a really great form of teaching method for some subjects. It is a very unique way to learn and it may not work for everyone, but it definitely is a way to create an online presence and be accessible to students outside of the actual classroom. It is also a very unique way to teach and it requires all lessons to be formed and posted before class. I have experienced this type of teaching in several math classes and there are many online resources that also provide videos that simulate a flipped classroom. I personally think I could use this type of teaching for math or science especially, but most likely not all of the subjects.
This module also talked about making videos and blended practice. Some teachers use blended practice by recording their lessons and posting them for their students after it is taught. I think this is a marvelous idea for some students that might have a harder time paying attention for the full class length and need a second chance to hear what was said and information that was taught. I think this is also great for students that are absent or need information from a class that they missed. Overall I think this is a great idea! Technology-based instruction is getting more and more popular as the technology world keeps growing and I think these are two great teaching methods to take advantage of when using technology in your classroom.
Below is a link to a slide show that I create an audio file to accompany it. I used the program JING which I also talked about in Thing 1. This program is great for taking screenshots, but also capturing a video and recording a video as you are still able to capture motions on the screen. Here is a slide show about nutrition that I recorded my voice to.
